Even though I've always been fairly enamored with idea of a tag cloud, they haven't really ever been useful, until recently. Ive always been apt to keeping up with the trends in web design, and I think tag clouds are one of the more interesting side effects of Web2.0, often associated with the emergence of internet powerhouses like Google and Ebay. So I went looking for some answers and came up with some very cool sites.
Some of the most notable tag clouds are found on sites like flickr, del.icio.us, technorati, top500 contentdesk and tag society.
The things the world is thinking up are constantly morphing inside the tag clouds on these web sites Tagging your website, photos, blogs etc, is similar to offering an IPO on your company. Once you tag it the masses can view it. You can browse objects of interest by tags that others have classified various materials under. Furthermore, as tags are clustered, the font of the tag increases as its popularity increases. A practical use of this would be to see what news people are blogging about or taking photos of.
Other noteworthy web sites offering a glimpse of whats happening around the web are Newzingo, a tag cloud that follows the top stories on Google News, and AuctionCloud.com, which allows you to observe whats being searched on Ebay in a cloud view. AuctionCloud.com in particular poses some possibly financially beneficial scenarios for web development in the amorphous theater of internet marketing strategies.
Some tools that I determined to be useful are TagCrowd.com which allows you to actually paste in your own text, maybe journal entry, blurb, etc, and see a cloud view of the word density, and CloudAlicio.us which is an clever time archive of del.icio.us bookmarks.
Take a moment and play with some of these fresh internet marketing tools and dissect their data to see what types of internet marketing insight and trends you can spot to enhance the vision for your blueprint for success.
